Have I mentioned how much I love my job at Rapha Boulder? Have I maybe mentioned how happy it makes me to have a clubhouse full of suits and sweaty cyclists and college students stoked on biking?
Rapha Boulder is a really special place, and yesterday morning’s events hit it home for me again. I am so lucky to be part of this community. I’m welcomed every day by my co-workers and the club members. I haven’t felt that in awhile.
Since we’re a cycling clothing company, July’s Tour de France is our Olympics and we celebrate it as so, especially the big stages. July 19th was the infamous Alpe d’Huez, so we set up an oatmeal bar and invited EVERYONE to come have breakfast and coffee on the house while watching the riders battle it out in the mountains.
We didn’t expect such a turn out! Every seat in the house was filled. People were standing and we ran out of bowls and spoons. I was over-caffeinated, I left the bar a few times to greet and hug my favorite people (and pet the pups, of course). And then there was cheering when the victor crossed the line; what a morning!
I got in on the goodness when we threw up our 5k sign.
This was boss’s genius idea. When there’s 5k left in a big race, we stop service so we can watch the final crucial minutes. The customers seem to get a kick out of it, too.
Around 11 a.m., things started to slow down after the race ended. We kept the coffee flowing all day, but it was mostly cold brew because it’s HOT here. Eighty two doesn’t sound too intimidating coming from Florida…but I’ve adjusted and I was feeling it on one of my bike-around-the-block breaks.
Just trying to soak up every second since I know winter will be here again before we know it.
There is so much to look forward to this summer at the clubhouse and I am excited for all of it. And thankful I get to be part of it, too.
What’s one activity you’re loving this summer?
